The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers a major and minor in sociology, two concentrations within the sociology degree, and a minor in Anthropology. In these programs, our mission is to present the liberal arts traditions of the disciplines and a broadly comparative, global approach to sociology. We emphasize the discipline's core concepts, theories, and bodies of knowledge, the techniques of social research, the ability to think critically, and the clear expression of ideas in writing.

As faculty members, we stress excellence in teaching, active research agendas, and service to the department, the University, the community, and to the discipline.
